Live Session
One leads.
Everyone follows.
One device drives the show. Switch songs, scroll, transpose — and every screen on stage updates in under a second, over local WiFi or the public internet. No cables, no setup, no "what page are we on?"
Leader / follower model
One musician drives. The rest read.
Open the Sessions tab in Strofa and start a new session. You become the leader. Band members in the same band tap Join — their screens immediately show what you're looking at: same song, same position, same key.
Every action the leader takes syncs to all followers instantly in real time: opening a new song, scrolling down a page, transposing a chord, changing the setlist position. The follower device shows the result in under a second — typically 200–400 ms over a normal internet connection, less on local WiFi.
The leader is in control of all navigation. Followers can still scroll their own device to look ahead, but when the leader changes song or scrolls significantly, all follower devices snap back to the leader's position. This prevents the common problem of a band member who "got lost" three pages ahead.
- Sub-second sync over WiFi and internet (200–400 ms typical)
- Leader controls song, position, key and setlist
- Followers can look ahead; snap back when leader moves
- Works with any number of followers — 2 to 20+
- Follower screen goes full-screen automatically for clean reading
- No local network required — works over 4G/5G too
- ✓ Current song (title, content, key)
- ✓ Scroll position (page number)
- ✓ Transposition
- ✓ Setlist position
- ✓ Metronome start/stop + BPM
- ✗ Backing track playback (plays locally per device)
Two transports
Works over the internet and over local WiFi.
Strofa supports two sync transports. The default is cloud sync — a connection through our servers. This works anywhere all devices have internet, including gigs at venues with no shared WiFi (everyone connects on their own 4G/5G plan). Latency is typically 200–400 ms.
When all devices are on the same local network, Strofa can also use Apple Multipeer Connectivity — a peer-to-peer WiFi/Bluetooth protocol built into iOS. Multipeer latency is under 50 ms and works with no internet access at all. Useful for rehearsals in basements and gigs at remote venues.
Strofa picks the best transport automatically. If Multipeer is available and all band members are on it, it uses Multipeer. If someone joins over 4G, it falls back to cloud sync for that device. You don't configure anything — it just works.
The follower screen goes full-screen automatically to maximise the reading area. Chrome, buttons and sidebars are hidden. The follower only needs to read the chart — all navigation happens on the leader's device.
