ChordPro display

Every chord, exactly
where it needs to be.

ChordPro is the industry-standard format for chord-and-lyric sheets. Strofa renders it natively — chords sit right above the syllable they belong to, with full ChordPro 2.0 directive support, adjustable font sizes and colour-coded sections.

The format

The standard every musician already uses.

ChordPro has been the open standard for chord sheets since the 1980s, used by OnSong, SongBook Pro, Band Helper and hundreds of other music apps. Strofa is a first-class citizen of this ecosystem — any ChordPro file you already own will open correctly.

A Strofa song file is plain text: [C]Sound of [Am]silence renders with "C" above the "S" in "Sound" and "Am" above "silence". The brackets define alignment exactly — no guessing, no approximation.

Supported directives include {title}, {artist}, {key}, {tempo}, {time}, {capo}, {comment} and all section markers: {start_of_verse}, {start_of_chorus}, {start_of_bridge} (and shortcuts v: / c: / b:). Section headers appear colour-coded in the rendered view — green for verse, orange for chorus, purple for bridge — so you can navigate at a glance.

Two display fonts: Baskerville (warm, highly legible on stage at distance) and system mono (better for dense chord sequences where alignment matters most). Font size is adjustable in five steps using the A−/A+ buttons in the song view.

Import

Import from anywhere.

If you already have a library in another app, bring it over. Strofa supports all major ChordPro-compatible formats, so you don't lose your existing collection when you switch.

OnSong users can import .onsong files directly — key, tempo, capo, artist and all custom metadata come across. SongBook Pro users can import an entire .sbpbackup file and get all songs and setlists in one operation.

For songs on Ultimate Guitar, the add-song screen has a built-in search. Find the tab you want, tap import, and Strofa converts the UG format to clean ChordPro automatically.

For handwritten or printed sheets, photograph the chart or import a PDF and Strofa uses Apple's Vision framework to extract the text. Results are best on clean, printed material. You can review and edit before saving.

If you paste in raw lyrics with no chords, tap in the editor and Strofa detects verse/chorus/bridge structure and adds section markers automatically. Tap 🎸 for a best-effort chord suggestion to work from — useful as a starting point, not a replacement for your ears.

Search & organise

Find what you need, fast.

At 200 songs the list gets unwieldy. Strofa's filter system lets you drill down by any combination of fields — so "what was that waltz in A?" is answered in two taps.

Full-text search

Searches title, artist, song content and tags simultaneously. Results appear as you type.

Tag filter

Create your own tags — "Wedding", "Jazz", "Covers", "Drop D". Filter by one or several at once.

Key filter

Show only songs in a specific key — useful when you're choosing songs for a set in a specific key.

Sort options

Sort by title, artist, date modified or last opened. The last-opened sort shows your most recent songs first.
